CTO

Architect of the platform - and the conviction that technology should make people more present, not less.

About John

John is Heron Martech's CTO and the architect of the platform behind both Synchropy and ShareDirect. With more than three decades across web development, databases, microservices, and marketing technology, he's spent his career on one problem from many angles: how do you use technology to make human relationships more scalable without making them less human?

Before Heron, John co-founded SharedVue and led its platform and technology through years of growth to 40,000+ partners, in roles spanning product, engineering, and technical leadership. His earlier work spans enterprise intranet systems, biotech applications, and consulting. He built Heron's platform around a single principle - amplify the human, don't replace them - pairing deep technical instincts with a product sense for how engagement actually works in the field.

At Heron, John is the reason both products can do what they promise. The ESite engine, the Engagement Score, the personalization logic, the analytics layers, third-party integration, smart AI utilization - that's his work, built with a clear view of what the people on both sides of the relationship actually need.

What I focus on at Heron
  • Platform architecture and engineering
  • The personalization engine and Engagement Score
  • Technical strategy and the product roadmap
  • Keeping the platform lean, fast, and genuinely sophisticated
Background

John has been building for the web since college - over thirty years of practical experience across dynamic HTML and CSS in the early days, through server-side platforms, relational databases, microservices, and the AI/ML capabilities now woven throughout. He thinks in systems and tradeoffs, which is why Heron's platform is architected for composability rather than all-in-one sprawl.

His time at SharedVue was formative: building a channel-engagement platform that had to work for some of the most operationally demanding technology companies on earth, at partner scale, and still feel personal to the end user. That pressure produced a set of patterns - the MasterESite model, the behavioral signal architecture, derivative content (in 22 languages!), the tiered analytics approach - that he brought directly into HeronCore when starting Heron.

His instinct throughout has been that the best technology is invisible. It works so well and so naturally that the person in the relationship - the rep, the leader, the community member - is the thing the audience remembers, not the interface.

"The best technology disappears - so the person in the relationship is the one your customer remembers."
